The Holy Bible
Lesson 1
In this lesson we will learn what is the Holy Bible, how many books it has, and other information.

The Holy Bible is not just one book but a collection of books. There are sixty-six books in the Bible. The Holy Bible is divided in two sections. The Old and the New Testament. The Old Testament has 39 books and the New Testament has 27 books.
The Old Testament is divided in several sections. The Pentateuch, the Historical Books, The Poetic Books, The Minor Prophets, and The Major Prophets.
The Pentateuch are the first five books of the Holy Bible. Pentateuch comes from the word penta which means five. The authorship of these five books is attributed to Moses.

The Bible is a wonderful book, for us Christians it is the Holy Word of God. We believe it was inspired by the Holy Spirit who used many direffent men to write it. The Bible was written thru a long period of time, by many different types of people and in different places. The Holy Bible was written by kings, fishermen, scribes, and in places like palaces and even a prison. The Holy Bible was also written in different languages from Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. What is so wonderful is that eventhough the Bible was written in these conditions still is one big collection of books that agree with each other.

The Old Testament was written before Jesus Christ was born and the New Testament was written after Jesus Christ's death. The New Testament tells the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, some of his life and the history of the early christians. Jesus Christ himself never wrote any books or letters.
