Beware of the internet

How to block undesired pages from the your browser.

If you use internet explorer go to Tools, Internet Options

Then go to Privacy Tab and select Edit In the Web Sites section.

Another window will open.
Where it says (Address of Web site : ) Write down the web address of the place you want to block and press the button Block. When you have press the Block button the name of the site you want to block will appear on the bottom where it says Managed Web sites .

These are places I suggest you block :
myspace.com
playboy.com
If you want to find out where your children have been follow the next steps.
Tools, Internet Options, the following window will open :

select Settings in the following section Temporary Internet files

Press on View Files
This will give you a list of all the places you have been on the internet. You will have to read thru it and check if you see any bad place.

Your personal information may be in danger
Our computers are being constantly attacked by people who want to steal our personal information in order to take our money. These people are known as hackers. Hackers use different methods for collecting any information about yourself that they can. These methods are known as, spyware, phishing, spam, trojan virus, etc.. The truth is that young people are naive when it comes to security and privacy. It is very easy for a kid to give away personal information. They easily give personal information in chat rooms, email, messengers, etc.

There has been plenty of warnings about the use of places like myspace.com.
We have seen on the news how many kids have been victims of abuse thanks to ciberplaces like myspace. Places on the internet like this one are full of foul language and kids share to much private information about themselves and their families. It could be easy for any stranger to get your kids address and arrange a meeting place with them. So, please, beware of what they are doing.

In regards to video games, I believe that a little bit of entertainment is OK. Kids are kids and they like to play. There are a lot of good games in the internet. But if your kids are under your suppervision I think you should suppervise their online activities. Unfortunately kids are most attracted to do, hear and see the things they are not suppose to. The most popular video games are usually the most violent, have foul language and are of no good. most video games now are just trash. They only stimulate the brain for bad things. For example this past September 2006 in Montreal Canada a 25 year old guy went to Dawson college and started shooting and kill one person and injured many. At the end he took his own life when he felt trapped. All these because of the violent games. These games are easily available online and in the market. Obesity in the USA is also alarming. This country has launch a campaign to have kids play games and sports outside instead of being couch potatos at home playing video games. Sports are a great option to keep a healthy mind and body.
To wrap-up things as parents we need to be more involved in our kids activities, specially when they are online. Just remember that the internet is full of trash and if you dont want to expose them to that you have to take some actions.
